We are hiring for a Workers’ Compensation Claims Unit Manger in our El Dorado Hills office.
The Unit Manager is responsible for ensuring their team delivers a high level of quality in claims and customer service meeting and exceeding our client’s expectations on a daily basis. This position is a dedicated manager, overseeing up to 8 direct reports (consisting of technical claims staff, and clerical in some cases).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensures the following claims activities are completed by their examiners in a timely manner which meets both York and client best practices:
  • Three-point contact
  • Investigations
  • Denials
  • Reserving
  • Benefit Delivery
  • Providing leadership and guidance including directing and planning the work tasks, direct involvement with and/or responsibility for the hiring, coaching, developing, training, appraising and disciplinary processes of employees.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving all denials and reserves
  • Assigning scores to files reviewed during monthly CQA’s process.
  • Setting the type and dollar amount when making settlement recommendations to client
  • Preparing and responding to external audits in coordination with our client services team. This would include implementing changes to improve performance if necessary.
KNOWLEDGE/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong leadership skills; experienced with training and mentoring staff
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, reasoning and organizational skills are essential
  • Medical and legal terminology and integration with Medicare
  • In-depth knowledge of the California Labor Code, practices & procedures and current case law
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 5 years Workers’ Compensation and/or relevant supervisory experience
