A Pennsylvania father and daughter team have been charged in an elaborate scheme involving an allegedly fake injury and workers' compensation checks that weren't actually stolen.
Police in Mount Holly Springs, near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, began investigating this month when Samuel Ecker reported that his benefits checks had been stolen, according to a local news report. Investigators found that Ecker's daughter, Jenny Stine, had cashed the checks on a fake bank account and split the cash with her father.
Upon further investigation, the police determined that the injury for which Ecker was claiming benefits never happened.
Ecker was booked into the Cumberland County Prison after his arrest, the report said.
