MEMIC launched a “Safety Experts” podcast to complement its safety blog and workshops aimed at improving the safety of workplaces throughout Maine.
The first five episodes of the podcast, hosted by MEMIC safety management consultant Peter Kock, cover topics including caregiving for dementia, seasonal workforce solutions, ergonomics, transforming workplace culture, and safety leadership.
The episode covering caregiving for dementia, featuring guest Dr. Heather McKay, explores common symptoms and behaviors that are caused by affliction, and ways to improve safety for both caregivers and those living with dementia.
The seasonal workforce solutions episode features guest Deb Roy, president of SafeTech Consultants and recently retired corporate director of Health, Safety & Wellness at L.L.Bean, discussing how to balance seasonal demand increases without sacrificing safety, quality and productivity.
Allan Brown, MEMIC’s director of ergonomics, discusses how good ergonomics fit the work to the worker, and not the other way around, in the third episode.
The transforming workplace culture episode features MEMIC President and CEO Michael Bourque using MEMIC’s experience to teach organizations about safety and initiating a culture change.
And in the first episode of the podcast, Randy Klatt, MEMIC loss control director, shares leadership tips from more than 40 years’ experience in industries where safety is critical.
Upcoming episodes will cover preventing fires during the holidays, safe winter driving tips, and slips and falls.
The podcasts are available through Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify and Stitcher. They can also be found on MEMIC’s website, here.
