The board of directors for Liberty Mutual Insurance appointed Edward Pena as senior vice president and treasurer.
Pena will succeed Laurance H.S. Yahia, who served in the position since 2003 and will retire April 3.
Pena joined Liberty Mutual in 2017 as vice president and director of investor relations and has been responsible for maintaining and developing the company's rating agency and investor relationships. He was also tasked with leading capital modeling and competitive analysis.
In 2019, Pena assumed the additional responsibility of managing Liberty's debt and liquidity strategy.
Prior to Liberty Mutual, he worked as vice president of finance for ProSight Specialty Insurance, where led capital and financial planning, mergers and acquisitions, and treasury. He also held roles at J.P. Morgan advising investment bank and financial institution clients on mergers, acquisitions and capital structuring.
Pena has a Master of Business Administration degree from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, and an undergraduate degree in economics and history from Yale University.
