The Goldberg Segalla law firm has brought attorney Joseph C. Tarpine III in as partner, and hired associates Meridith L. Pendergrass and Jason L. Heller for its workers’ compensation practice group in Baltimore, according to a report in The Daily Record.
Tarpine has defended employers against workers’ compensation claims before the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission, Administrative Hearings Division and Court of Appeals, as well as the District of Columbia Office of Workers’ Compensation, according to the report. Tarpine also presents seminars to attorneys, insurance adjusters, risk managers and human resources professionals.
Pendergrass and Heller have also defended employers in workers’ compensation matters in D.C. and Maryland. Both also have experience defending against accidental injury and occupational disease claims.
Previously, Pendergrass clerked in the Office of the Attorney General in the Health Occupations, Prosecution and Litigation Division, and then for Administrative Judge Lenore R. Gelfman in the Circuit Court for Howard County, Maryland, according to the law firm’s website.
Prior to joining Goldberg Segalla, Heller represented claimants before the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission. He also handled automotive tort cases and assisted businesses in a variety of matters, according to the law firm’s website.
