"Real Conversations about Comp"
Learn from a panel of workers' compensation experts as they deal with gripping hypothetical case studies drawn from real-life scenarios facing the workers compensation community.
This session will discuss and analyze several hypothetical scenarios leading to dilemmas that could confront any professional in the workers' compensation system today. The implications of these problems, whatever they may be, may trigger ethical, emotional, legal and business policy decisions that will challenge our perceptions of right and wrong.
Panelists from across the workers' compensation community contribute both their professional expertise and personal experiences to the discussion. As the panelists wrestle with the issues presented in these hypotheticals, they are encouraged not just to say what they think about an issue, but to say what they would do in these often difficult situations as if they were personally involved. You, the audience, are along for the ride, intellectually and emotionally, as the stories provide you a personal connection with what would otherwise be remote and abstract concepts in the workers’ compensation system. It is a dynamic and engaging format for learning the nuances of the complex workers compensation system. Attendees will leave with a much deeper understanding of the how the system works and how each role within the system impacts another.
Our moderator for these hypothetical case studies is California Workers' Compensation Judge David Pollak from the Van Nuys district office of the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB).
