Missing from the regulations and guidelines are any limits to home health care. When you have an injured worker who needs 24/7 'roun the clock care, when does it become more reasonable to place that patient in a care facility at a cost of no more than $10k / month, instead of 24/7 HHC by 2 at a time providers @ $15-$20 per hour. Let's see $20/hr x 24 hrs x 30 days = $14,400 per month. x 2 providers = almost $30,000 a month. NOT including medical services, medications, etc..

At some point, there has to be a limit.

If Home Health Care services had not be abused over the last few decades, by patients who need 'temporary' HHC service post surgery or in the acute phases of treatments, that turn into lifetime housekeepers, gardeners, and 'friends' to sit with them 24/7, this would not be a problem.

Like everything else, a few abusers have created a nightmare in the system.

"At some point, there has to be a limit" Why? Telling an injured worker he's reached the limit is the same as telling the injured you cost too much so go ahead and suffer, we don't care.

The reason is as Frustrated pointed out - people abuse a system without limits. Sad but true. Employers need reasonable protections against people who would fleece the system to get help around the house.

So because some abuse the system others who do not abuse it has to suffer? Making everyone suffer because of a few is not the way to go!
