Sedgwick, a third-party claims administrator, has appointed Max Koonce to the position of chief claims officer for the company’s casualty division.
In his new role, Koonce will be responsible for product development, industry thought leadership, legislative and regulatory relationships, and continued involvement in client programs for Sedgwick’s U.S. workers’ compensation and liability lines of business.
Koonce joined Sedgwick in 2015 and was previously the company’s senior vice president of client services, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Before Sedgwick, Koonce was senior director of risk management for Walmart Stores Inc., the nation’s largest private-sector employer, as well as president of the company’s wholly-owned third party administrator.
An attorney by trade, Koonce was previously an administrative law judge for the Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission and an appellate court justice for the Arkansas Court of Appeals.
Koonce received a bachelor’s degree from Harding University and a law degree from University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He is a member of the Arkansas and American bar associations.
