The North Carolina House of Representatives voted in favor of sending one of its own members to fill the vacancy for an employer representative on the state’s Industrial Commission, the Laurinburg Exchange reports.
Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, earlier in March named Rep. Ken Goodman, D-Montgomery, as the successor to Commissioner Yolanda Stith, whose term ends April 30.
The House last week unanimously approved the nomination. The Senate must still vote to confirm Goodman’s appointment.
If confirmed, Goodman will vacate his elected position.
