About David Vittoria

Mr. Vittoria has over 25 years of experience in senior clinical and operations capacities within the behavioral health field. Mr. Vittoria provides clinical and administrative oversight of all behavioral health functions in Carisk’s Clinical Services division across all lines of business including commercial, government, Medicare, Medicaid and workers’ compensation. Mr. Vittoria began his career as the Clinical Team Leader at Charter Hospital of Miami, a private psychiatric and substance use disorder hospital serving children, adolescents and adults. In 1994, he launched South Florida’s first Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program at Charter Hospital, overseeing all clinical, regulatory, compliance, marketing, case management, and utilization management divisions. In 1996, Mr. Vittoria joined Transitions Recovery Program as a therapist and later became the Director of Utilization Management. In 2004, he founded Ascendi, providing executive health and employee wellness training and coaching programs for 26 of the Fortune 50 companies in the United States. Following Hurricane Katrina, he founded Helping Those Helping Others, a not-for- profit providing free coaching, stress management, organizational development, and leadership training programs to organizations assisting underserved populations in the hardest hit areas. In 2012, he joined Baptist Health South Florida to administer South Miami Hospital’s Addiction Treatment & Recovery Center. Soon thereafter, Mr. Vittoria assumed the role of Assistant Vice President and co-led Baptist Health’s behavioral health services integration across the enterprise. He volunteers for various social service agencies in Miami, Florida including Chapman Partnership and Trauma Resolution Services, and for the New York City Fire Department, training trauma counselors on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. He has served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Miami’s Center for Addiction Studies and Education and currently teaches addiction treatment courses at Florida International University’s Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Master’s Level Certified Addictions Professional, a Nationally-Certified Addictions Counselor, a Certified Prevention Professional, an Internationally- Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist. He has been trained in a variety of clinical approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Traumatic Incidence Reduction, and is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Mr. Vittoria earned BA and MA degrees in Social Work from Florida International University, twice graduating Summa Cum Laude.
