Using HSA’s proprietary Workers’ Comp Facility Assessment Tool, our analysts ranked all the hospitals in the country based on their scores for clinical outcomes, patient engagement, safety, efficiency and relative price. We aggregated facilities’ scores across these categories to determine which “earned” this designation.

Unlike most hospital scoring systems, the Workers’ Comp Facility Assessment Tool does not use hospitals’ own reviews or community “ratings” and satisfaction scores; it is based on the best available data and specifically designed for workers’ compensation. The tool utilizes objective and highly credible state and federal government data on clinical outcomes, patient safety, patient engagement and cost. Cost is calculated with workers’ comp-focused data, and quality measures are weighted for relevance to workers’ comp dynamics, with a special focus on the metrics most relevant to musculoskeletal care.
