As far as I can see the only real beneficiary of AB 5 is the insurance business. As an Applicant attorney, I am loathe to say that Applicants' Attorneys are out trolling for a wider client base. Rather, I think that many Applicants' Attorneys, who supported this Bill, are lacking in real world experience and broad economic understanding. Effectively, this bill will hurt the people they are, at least purportedly, trying to help.
