Colorado workers’ compensation carrier Pinnacol Assurance hired Timothy A. Johnson as chief human resources officer and vice president of employee services to succeed Barbara Brannen, retiring vice president of human resources.

Johnson will lead the Human Resources and Learning and Development teams within Pinnacol, and in that capacity will play an important role in the company’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, the carrier said. He will also lead Pinnacol’s strategy to reimagine new models of working post-pandemic for the company’s employees.  

Johnson has 30 years of global human resources experience. Most recently, he led a number of transformation initiatives, including efforts to measure and improve representation and diversity in the food industry. He has also served in senior leadership roles in global companies, ranging from PepsiCo to AutoNation to Dell Inc., where he developed strategies and programs to enhance company culture and drive both employee engagement and business outcomes.

Johnson received his bachelor’s in sociology from Oakland University and his master’s in labor and industrial relations from Michigan State University.
