A Syracuse nursing assistant said she suffered an injury at work and, over the next two years, collected more than $26,000 in workers' compensation benefits.

The problem is, the day before her injury claim, she signed a contract to go to work as a real estate broker, according to the New York Inspector General's Office and a local news report.

Jacqueline Gilchrist, 53, repeatedly said in medical exams that she was unable to work because of the injury, yet was selling real estate the whole time, prosecutors said.

An investigation uncovered the alleged fraud, and Gilchrist was arrested last week. She was held in jail in lieu of bond and is set to appear in court today.
