Commissioner Ryan Brannan resigned his position, effective May 1, the Division of Workers’ Compensation announced.
Brannan was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry in August 2014 and reappointed twice by Gov. Greg Abbott.
Brannan said he was thankful for the opportunity.
“It’s time for me to take on new challenges,” he said in a statement. “While I am excited about what lies ahead, I will never forget all the great people I’ve worked with at this division.”
Abbott might appoint someone to fill out Brannan’s term, which expires Feb. 1, 2019, the division said.
