Gilson Daub Continues Midwest Expansion

Workers’ compensation defense and subrogation law firm Gilson Daub has opened an office in Peoria, Illinois.

Gilson Daub recently opened two offices in St. Louis and Springfield, Missouri.

The new Illinois office will be supervised by Bret Taylor and Tim Steil, who each join Gilson Daub as a partner and managing attorney.

Taylor has nearly 30 years of experience and has represented employers before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, and circuit and appellate courts. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Peoria County Bar Association, the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association and the Greater Peoria Claims Association.

Taylor graduated from the University of Iowa in 1990 and earned his doctorate from Creighton University in 1993.

Steil has handled workers' compensation defense claims in Illinois since 2001, representing employers and insurance carriers before the commission and circuit and appellate courts. He has served as chairman of the workers' compensation committees for the Illinois State Bar and Peoria County Bar associations, as well as co-editor for the state association workers’ compensation newsletter. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Workers' Compensation Law Association, Peoria County Bar Association and the Greater Peoria Claims Association.

Steil earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in 1998 and his doctorate from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2001.

Associate Tim Cushing earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2004 and his doctorate from Ave Maria School of Law in 2007.

The three attorneys will partner with Alan Cotten, who recently joined the St. Louis team and is licensed to practice in Missouri and Illinois. Cotten has more than 35 years of experience in a variety of litigation, including workers' compensation defense and representing claimants.

Cotten is admitted to Missouri and Illinois state and federal courts and the Supreme Court of the United States. He graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1983 and earned his doctorate from the Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1986.
