One question I see repeatedly ignored in discussion of this issue is whether these procedures are truly necessary in most instances; it's my understanding that the weight of the current evidence supports the conclusion that many of these complex surgical procedures are unnecessary and do not produce better results than more traditional measures or even conservative care. I believe the maxim that time is the best healer has been corroborated with each successive study.

It is ridiculous to think that WC patients use more hardware than medicare patients Enough nonsense. I think with IMR, the number of these fusions will decrease. The success rate is at best 40%, and they are being used to treat minimal disk bulges, instead of instability. These patients wind up as back cripples
