Having to deal with pain is no easy task and surgeries are on "easy" stuff". A big part of the problem with mental illness is that being denied the correct medical solution will cause depression and anxiety and ends to be in many cases permanent. Having someone doubt your real injuries from the onset and with the many years of concurrence of the denial claim can also cause the same effects. Why not interview injured workers instead of creating a situation as to what or when mental illness came after or with the prescribing of opiates. More often than not, the medicines mentioned in this article are all an injured worker got for treatment because it was the most cost effective for insurers and just shut them up as was done when tranquilizers and anti-depressants came out on the market.. So who and what caused the "mental illness" and is the mental illness described accurately and scientifically by real medical experts? This should not be left up to just the insurance industry. Ask medical experts from the 70's & 80's vs the 90's when antidepressants, tranquilizers & opiates became so popular to treat physical injuries. with pain. And who is to say that just having a permanent injury with no cure will actually lend it self to depression and anxiety for the rest of their lives. Living with limitations is nothing to celebrate or be happy about!
