Tax payers foot the bill only for claims of public servants with a good union/PAC. What about everyone else? The current penalties allow runaway abuse by claims adjusters.
That is why there is SO MUCH litigation. The penalties as they stand are a joke.
Delay a $1000 benefits payment so the injured worker cannot pay their $2500 rent. The injured worker incurs a late rental charge of $200. The max penalty for the claims adjuster (paid months or years later) is $100. Right...
Ground your kid for 10 minutes for cutting middle school. Grounding applied only after they graduate from college. Yeah, a joke....
