A state judicial marshal collecting temporary total disability benefits was arrested after he was seen working security at a bar in Stamford, the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice announced in a news release.

Amador Nunez, 41, of Bridgeport, was charged with one count of fraudulent claim or receipt of benefits and one count of larceny in the first degree by defrauding a public community, the release said.

Nunez received $21,912 in temporary total disability benefits from July to December of last year from the state Workers’ Compensation Fund, the release said.

Nunez’s doctor had placed him on no-work status in July after his third injury as a Norwalk Superior Court judicial marshal in four years, the release said.

In November, a tipster called the National Crime Insurance Bureau to report seeing Nunez working security at Brickhouse Bar and Grill in Stamford, the release said.

Security footage from a 16-day period in November shows Nunez checking IDs and roaming through the bar in a shirt marked “Security,” Nunez’s arrest warrant said.

Nunez is due in court on June 27. Connecticut’s Workers’ Compensation Fraud Control Unit will prosecute the case in New Britain Superior Court.
