A state corrections officer has been charged with working while collecting almost $48,000 in workers' compensation benefits.
Hoai Le, 49, of West Hartford, was arrested Thursday after investigators allegedly found him working at a Vietnamese restaurant, the Connecticut Chief State's Attorney's Office said in a news release.
Le injured his back in 2018 while responding to an emergency at the prison where he worked and was placed on temporary total disability. For nine months, Le received benefit checks but was also allegedly managing Pho Delicious restaurant in East Longmeadow, prosecutors said.
In a deposition, Le denied working, but surveillance video showed otherwise, the state attorney said.
Le has been released on $35,000 bond and is set to appear in court Feb. 5.
