Injured workers are treated like human garbage in California. Benefits need to be raised immediately! A work injury should not be a guarantee of homelessness!

James Witkop Jul 19, 2024 a 6:58 am PDT

This is what happens when your elected officials worry more about politics than actually helping the people who vote them into office. Nothing will happen until some politician sees workers' compensation reform as a way to score votes.

Gil:

Why do you think they have UR? Do you remember the days of Pace Medical?

The applciant's attorneys' actions are to blame for the UR system.

Steve Cattolica Jul 19, 2024 a 10:31 am PDT

Regardless of who is to "blame" the UR process is not what it needs to be. Private equity, computers and self-dealing have made the process untenable and certainly not what was sold to the legislature in 2012.

Charles Cleveland Jul 20, 2024 a 7:44 am PDT

Pace medical? That was 23 years ago. SB 1080 gave us UR in 2003. How long should this punishment be meted out to injured workers over the actions of some people two decades ago.

Kimberley J Pryor Jul 23, 2024 a 4:53 pm PDT

MPNs or UR- PICK ONE. we do not need both. UR denials are destroying injured workers lives by delaying or denying necessary treatment until the TTD and/or SDI benefits are exhausted. Broken bodies return to work out of necessity. If the 104 week TTD Cap was eliminated, treatment would not be delayed... The QME process is a sham. Scheduling services recruit incompetence and take 1/2 the QME pay. All the while the worker suffers with as a result of garbage reports, terminated benefits and being forced to return to work injured. The billionaires are laughing at us.
