The Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation is offering training for medical office staff in Abilene on Aug. 15.

The seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at America’s Small Business Development Center at Texas Tech University. Registration is $35 per person and includes lunch.

The seminar covers:

• Identifying a workers’ compensation patient and verifying coverage.
• Utilization review — prospective, concurrent and retrospective review of medical necessity.
• Return-to-work and the DWC073.
• Medical bill processing and fee guidelines.
• Processes for resolving disputes.
